FAQ
General Queries
What is the timescale for delivery or shipping of my item?
As is mentioned elsewhere in the FAQs, each item is crafted by me from scratch. Depending on the piece ordered will effect when it is shipped. I aim to get every piece shipped within 2 weeks of purchase (often sooner!), however bigger pieces such as pet portrait commissions or larger fantasy creations will take longer. I will however keep you updated throughout the entire process. If you need to receive your purchase by a certain date, please communicate this with me when purchasing so I can make sure I work to your timescale.
Why does my item look slightly different from the photo?
All of the pieces are hand crafted from the moment you order them. I do not keep a "back stock" of items ready made for sale. Each sheet of glass is different, with different patterning, streaks or colouration. I keep the same colour story running throughout the piece, and the pattern will be the same, however like no two paintings will be identical, no two pieces of stained glass will be identical. You can be certain that you have a one of a kind piece of art!
Shipping and Returns
Where do you ship?
I ship to any country I can! If your country isn't listed as available when purchasing, please just send me a message and I will look into it. I package every piece as carefully as possible to ensure that it doesn't get damaged during the shipping process, whether it's just going down the street or across continents. Please be aware that whilst I can try my best, I can not control shipping times or individual shipping agents, and as such delivery times can and do vary.
What about fees and import taxes?
Buyers are responsible for paying the shipping fees prior to purchase, and responsible for any customs or import duties and taxes that your item(s) might be subject to.
What is your returns policy?
Refunds and returns are only offered in instances of damage during shipment. If your item is damaged or arrives broken, please let me know with 72 hours of receiving your order, and we can discuss a resolution. If you should need to return an item please ensure it is secured carefully and returned. Please note shipping charges are your responsibility. We cannot accept liability for items lost on return, or items lost during the shipping process. Where possible, and if selected when you choose your postage option, items will be sent tracked.
How do I look after my glass?
Cleaning
So you've received your item, it's beautiful and hung on your wall, but maybe it's gotten a bit dusty or some fingerprints. Well lucky for you there's not much that it takes to clean your piece! Normally, just a gently wipe with a microfibre cloth to buff and polish it will take any marks right out. If it doesn't, using a standard car wax can help give it that better-than-new shine. You shouldn't need to clean your piece often, as the wax will keep it from tarnishing. Feel free to re-wax it when you notice the shine starting to dim!
Please try to avoid using any sort of glass cleaner, abrasive polish or harsh chemicals, as these can be abrasive and scratch the glass or damage the soft solder.
How should I display my glass?
Some pieces will come as a bookend, such as those in the fantasy collection (which is on the way!). Others may come in a frame with hanging hooks. It's entirely up to you where you place it in your house, but if you are going to hang it, please make sure you affix it to sturdy nails or screws that won't buckle under the weight.
Is it kid friendly? Are these pieces safe?
Yes and no! All of the rough or sharp glass edges are sanded down and then foiled and soldered, so unless you're trying really really hard, you're not at risk of getting injured or cut. However, the most important thing is that the solder I use which holds the glass together is a mix of lead and tin. After handling your stained glass piece, please make sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, and please DO NOT put any of these pieces in your mouth.
Simply having the stained glass in your house is not going to harm you. Lead is a health issue when ingested, so avoid eating it and wash your hands and you will be okay!
